Expectation

Isaiah 64:4-5, "From of old no one has heard or perceived by the ear, no eye has seen a God besides you, who acts for those who wait for him. You meet him who joyfully works righteousness, those who remember you in your ways"

Expectation; if unmet it can send us into despair, hopelessness, frustration, bitterness. The key is expecting from the only one whose name is Faithful and True. All else, whether it be a person, a thing, a place or an idea, will fail us at some point. But, if our expectation is from Yahweh, we cannot be moved (Psalm 62).

LORD, forgive me for not expecting more from you. You are not my wishing well, but You are a loving, real, jealous, passionate Father, Bride Groom and Teacher. I have ravished you with one glance from my eyes (Song of Songs 4:9). I want everything You are offering to me.

As a daughter of the Creator of the Universe, my expectations are high!

I expect to be heard, to be met, to be spoken with, to be provided for, to be freed, to be called, to be corrected, to be loved, to be led, to live. Not because I'm a demanding spoiled brat, but because You have promised those things and so much more! I rest in Your faithfulness.
